Situated in Rizal, Cagayan, Barangay Battut is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Battut had a population of 546. This made it the 19th largest of 29 barangays in Rizal by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Battut accounted for approximately 2.86% of the total population of Rizal, which stood at 19,077 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Battut changed from 485 to 546, a shift of +12.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Rizal. Barangay Battut is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Rizal is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Battut, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
