Barangay Himatagon (Pob.)

Barangay Himatagon (Pob.) is a small barangay in the municipality of Saint Bernard, located in the province of Southern Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Himatagon (Pob.) had a population of 1,748. This made it the 5th largest of 30 barangays in Saint Bernard by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Himatagon (Pob.) accounted for approximately 6.15% of the total population of Saint Bernard, which stood at 28,414 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Himatagon (Pob.) moving from 1,773 residents to 1,748 residents, an intercensal change of -1.4%. The trajectory indicates a broadly stable community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Himatagon (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Saint Bernard is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Himatagon (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
