Barangay Bongdo

Barangay Bongdo is a small barangay in the municipality of San Benito, located in the province of Surigao Del Norte, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bongdo had a population of 534. This made it the 6th largest of 6 barangays in San Benito by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bongdo accounted for approximately 9.43% of the total population of San Benito, which stood at 5,663 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 481 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 534 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bongdo is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Benito is a municipality comprising 6 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bongdo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
