Barangay Bagonawa

Situated in San Enrique, Negros Occidental, Barangay Bagonawa is one of 10 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bagonawa had a population of 1,520. This made it the 6th largest of 10 barangays in San Enrique by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bagonawa accounted for approximately 6.29% of the total population of San Enrique, which stood at 24,177 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,501 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,520 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.3%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bagonawa as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Enrique is a municipality comprising 10 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bagonawa, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
