Barangay Poblacion South

Situated in San Fernando, Cebu, Barangay Poblacion South is one of 21 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion South had a population of 8,948. This made it the 1st largest of 21 barangays in San Fernando by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion South accounted for approximately 12.39% of the total population of San Fernando, which stood at 72,224 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 8,294 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 8,948 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion South as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

San Fernando is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion South, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
