Barangay Panangcalan

Situated in San Fernando, Romblon, Barangay Panangcalan is one of 12 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Panangcalan had a population of 1,171. This made it the 12th largest of 12 barangays in San Fernando by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Panangcalan accounted for approximately 4.84% of the total population of San Fernando, which stood at 24,171 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,115 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,171 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Panangcalan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Fernando is a municipality comprising 12 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Panangcalan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
