Barangay Central (Pob.)

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Central (Pob.) is one of the administrative divisions of San Francisco in Southern Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Central (Pob.) had a population of 1,285. This made it the 1st largest of 22 barangays in San Francisco by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Central (Pob.) accounted for approximately 9.56% of the total population of San Francisco, which stood at 13,436 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Central (Pob.) moving from 1,270 residents to 1,285 residents, an intercensal change of +1.2%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Central (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Francisco is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Central (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
