Barangay 1 (Pob.)

Barangay 1 (Pob.) is a large barangay in the municipality of San Francisco, located in the province of Agusan Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay 1 (Pob.) had a population of 5,579. This made it the 4th largest of 27 barangays in San Francisco by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay 1 (Pob.) accounted for approximately 6.91% of the total population of San Francisco, which stood at 80,760 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay 1 (Pob.) changed from 5,902 to 5,579, a shift of -5.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in San Francisco. Barangay 1 (Pob.) is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

San Francisco is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay 1 (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Agusan Del Sur, which contains 314 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay 1 (Pob.) ranks 22nd by 2020 population. Agusan Del Sur is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay 1 (Pob.) is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
