Barangay Pawican

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Pawican is one of the administrative divisions of San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, MIMAROPA Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Pawican had a population of 1,956. This made it the 22nd largest of 39 barangays in San Jose by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Pawican accounted for approximately 1.28% of the total population of San Jose, which stood at 153,267 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Pawican moving from 2,295 residents to 1,956 residents, an intercensal change of -14.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Pawican as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Jose is a municipality comprising 39 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pawican, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
