Barangay Caanawan

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Caanawan is one of the administrative divisions of San Jose City in Nueva Ecija, Central Luzon, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Caanawan had a population of 5,217. This made it the 12th largest of 38 barangays in San Jose City by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Caanawan accounted for approximately 3.46% of the total population of San Jose City, which stood at 150,917 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Caanawan changed from 5,032 to 5,217, a shift of +3.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in San Jose City. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Caanawan as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

San Jose City is a city comprising 38 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Caanawan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Ecija, which contains 849 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Caanawan ranks 101st by 2020 population.
