This made it the 13th largest of 26 barangays in Santa Cruz by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Santo Angel Sur accounted for approximately 3.29% of the total population of Santa Cruz, which stood at 123,574 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,572 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,066 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -11.1%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Santo Angel Sur as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.
