Barangay Bao-as

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Bao-as is one of the administrative divisions of Santa Lucia in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bao-as had a population of 776. This made it the 18th largest of 36 barangays in Santa Lucia by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bao-as accounted for approximately 2.99% of the total population of Santa Lucia, which stood at 25,966 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bao-as changed from 693 to 776, a shift of +12.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Santa Lucia. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bao-as as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santa Lucia is a municipality comprising 36 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bao-as, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
