Barangay Caticugan

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Caticugan is one of the administrative divisions of Santa Rita in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Caticugan had a population of 2,251. This made it the 3rd largest of 38 barangays in Santa Rita by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Caticugan accounted for approximately 5.31% of the total population of Santa Rita, which stood at 42,384 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Caticugan moving from 2,162 residents to 2,251 residents, an intercensal change of +4.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Caticugan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santa Rita is a municipality comprising 38 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Caticugan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
