Barangay Mangaan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Mangaan is one of the administrative divisions of Santol in La Union, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Mangaan had a population of 1,136. This made it the 7th largest of 11 barangays in Santol by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mangaan accounted for approximately 8.02% of the total population of Santol, which stood at 14,166 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Mangaan moving from 1,141 residents to 1,136 residents, an intercensal change of -0.4%. The trajectory indicates a broadly stable community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Mangaan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santol is a municipality comprising 11 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mangaan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
