Barangay Balante

Barangay Balante is a small barangay in the city of Science City of Muñoz, located in the province of Nueva Ecija, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Balante had a population of 1,865. This made it the 20th largest of 37 barangays in Science City of Muñoz by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Balante accounted for approximately 2.21% of the total population of Science City of Muñoz, which stood at 84,308 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Balante changed from 2,039 to 1,865, a shift of -8.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Science City of Muñoz. Barangay Balante is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Science City of Muñoz is a city comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balante, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Ecija, which contains 849 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Balante ranks 473rd by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
