Situated in Sergio osmeña Sr., Zamboanga Del Norte, Barangay Nuevavista is one of 39 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Nuevavista had a population of 390. This made it the 33rd largest of 39 barangays in Sergio osmeña Sr. by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nuevavista accounted for approximately 1.22% of the total population of Sergio osmeña Sr., which stood at 31,942 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 354 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 390 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.2%, consistent with a growing settlement.
