Barangay Abachanan

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Abachanan is one of the administrative divisions of Sierra Bullones in Bohol, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Abachanan had a population of 2,065. This made it the 3rd largest of 22 barangays in Sierra Bullones by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Abachanan accounted for approximately 7.91% of the total population of Sierra Bullones, which stood at 26,095 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,018 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,065 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Abachanan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sierra Bullones is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Abachanan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bohol, which contains 1,109 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Abachanan ranks 152nd by 2020 population.
