Barangay Balucuan

Barangay Balucuan is a small barangay in the municipality of Sigma, located in the province of Capiz, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Balucuan had a population of 1,147. This made it the 12th largest of 21 barangays in Sigma by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balucuan accounted for approximately 3.62% of the total population of Sigma, which stood at 31,688 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Balucuan moving from 1,185 residents to 1,147 residents, an intercensal change of -3.2%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Balucuan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sigma is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balucuan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
