Barangay Mahayahay

Barangay Mahayahay is a very small barangay in the municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, located in the province of Lanao Del Norte, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mahayahay had a population of 423. This made it the 33rd largest of 37 barangays in Sultan Naga Dimaporo by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mahayahay accounted for approximately 0.69% of the total population of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, which stood at 60,904 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Mahayahay moving from 499 residents to 423 residents, an intercensal change of -15.2%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Mahayahay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sultan Naga Dimaporo is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mahayahay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Barangay Mahayahay is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
