Barangay Banga

Barangay Banga is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Talisay, located in the province of Batangas, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Banga had a population of 4,834. This made it the 4th largest of 21 barangays in Talisay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banga accounted for approximately 10.45% of the total population of Talisay, which stood at 46,238 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Banga changed from 4,050 to 4,834, a shift of +19.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Talisay. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Banga as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Talisay is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banga, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Batangas, which contains 1,078 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Banga ranks 124th by 2020 population. Batangas is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Banga is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
