Barangay Banday (Pob.)

Situated in Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte, Barangay Banday (Pob.) is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Banday (Pob.) had a population of 568. This made it the 14th largest of 29 barangays in Tomas Oppus by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banday (Pob.) accounted for approximately 3.34% of the total population of Tomas Oppus, which stood at 16,990 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 560 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 568 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.4%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Banday (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
