Barangay Manat

Situated in Trento, Agusan Del Sur, Barangay Manat is one of 16 barangays that make up the municipality within Caraga.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Manat had a population of 3,664. This made it the 5th largest of 16 barangays in Trento by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Manat accounted for approximately 6.72% of the total population of Trento, which stood at 54,492 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,781 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,664 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -3.1%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Manat as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Trento is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Manat, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Agusan Del Sur, which contains 314 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Manat ranks 51st by 2020 population. Agusan Del Sur is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Manat is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
