Barangay San Ignacio

Barangay San Ignacio is a small barangay in the municipality of Trento, located in the province of Agusan Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Ignacio had a population of 1,035. This made it the 14th largest of 16 barangays in Trento by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Ignacio accounted for approximately 1.90% of the total population of Trento, which stood at 54,492 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay San Ignacio changed from 959 to 1,035, a shift of +7.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Trento. Barangay San Ignacio is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Trento is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Ignacio, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Agusan Del Sur, which contains 314 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Ignacio ranks 235th by 2020 population. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
