Barangay Matabao

Situated in Tubigon, Bohol, Barangay Matabao is one of 34 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Matabao had a population of 1,103. This made it the 20th largest of 34 barangays in Tubigon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matabao accounted for approximately 2.30% of the total population of Tubigon, which stood at 47,886 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,090 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,103 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.2%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Matabao is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tubigon is a municipality comprising 34 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Matabao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
