Barangay Katipunan

Barangay Katipunan is a small barangay in the municipality of Veruela, located in the province of Agusan Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Katipunan had a population of 768. This made it the 17th largest of 20 barangays in Veruela by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Katipunan accounted for approximately 1.93% of the total population of Veruela, which stood at 39,708 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Katipunan moving from 958 residents to 768 residents, an intercensal change of -19.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Katipunan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Veruela is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Katipunan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
