Barangay Cagnocot

Barangay Cagnocot forms part of Villaba, a municipality in Leyte, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cagnocot had a population of 3,288. This made it the 1st largest of 35 barangays in Villaba by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cagnocot accounted for approximately 7.67% of the total population of Villaba, which stood at 42,859 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cagnocot moving from 3,109 residents to 3,288 residents, an intercensal change of +5.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cagnocot as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Villaba is a municipality comprising 35 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cagnocot, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
