Barangay Capilian

Barangay Capilian forms part of Abuyog, a municipality in Leyte, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Capilian had a population of 747. This made it the 29th largest of 63 barangays in Abuyog by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Capilian accounted for approximately 1.22% of the total population of Abuyog, which stood at 61,216 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 813 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 747 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -8.1%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Capilian is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Abuyog is a municipality comprising 63 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Capilian, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
