Barangay Picas Sur

Barangay Picas Sur is a small barangay in the municipality of Abuyog, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Picas Sur had a population of 500. This made it the 49th largest of 63 barangays in Abuyog by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Picas Sur accounted for approximately 0.82% of the total population of Abuyog, which stood at 61,216 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Picas Sur moving from 614 residents to 500 residents, an intercensal change of -18.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Picas Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
