Barangay Santo Niño (Pob.) forms part of Abuyog, a municipality in Leyte, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

This made it the 2nd largest of 63 barangays in Abuyog by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Santo Niño (Pob.) accounted for approximately 4.88% of the total population of Abuyog, which stood at 61,216 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,789 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,989 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Santo Niño (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Abuyog is a municipality comprising 63 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Santo Niño (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
