Barangay Balangon

Barangay Balangon is a small barangay in the municipality of Agoncillo, located in the province of Batangas, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Balangon had a population of 1,709. This made it the 11th largest of 21 barangays in Agoncillo by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balangon accounted for approximately 4.37% of the total population of Agoncillo, which stood at 39,101 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Balangon moving from 1,605 residents to 1,709 residents, an intercensal change of +6.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Balangon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Agoncillo is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balangon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Batangas, which contains 1,078 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Balangon ranks 637th by 2020 population.
