Barangay Maracanao

Situated in Agutaya, Palawan, Barangay Maracanao is one of 10 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Maracanao had a population of 312. This made it the 9th largest of 10 barangays in Agutaya by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maracanao accounted for approximately 2.42% of the total population of Agutaya, which stood at 12,867 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Maracanao moving from 309 residents to 312 residents, an intercensal change of +1.0%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Maracanao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Agutaya is a municipality comprising 10 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maracanao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
