Barangay Punay

Barangay Punay is a small barangay in the municipality of Aloguinsan, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Punay had a population of 1,537. This made it the 10th largest of 15 barangays in Aloguinsan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Punay accounted for approximately 4.46% of the total population of Aloguinsan, which stood at 34,466 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Punay moving from 1,544 residents to 1,537 residents, an intercensal change of -0.5%. The trajectory indicates a broadly stable community. Barangay Punay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Aloguinsan is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Punay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
