Barangay Agguirit

Barangay Agguirit is a very small barangay in the municipality of Amulung, located in the province of Cagayan, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Agguirit had a population of 301. This made it the 45th largest of 47 barangays in Amulung by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Agguirit accounted for approximately 0.60% of the total population of Amulung, which stood at 50,336 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Agguirit changed from 311 to 301, a shift of -3.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Amulung. Barangay Agguirit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Amulung is a municipality comprising 47 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Agguirit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cagayan, which contains 820 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Agguirit ranks 778th by 2020 population.
