Barangay Agbatuan

Situated in Anilao, Iloilo, Barangay Agbatuan is one of 21 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Agbatuan had a population of 947. This made it the 17th largest of 21 barangays in Anilao by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Agbatuan accounted for approximately 3.10% of the total population of Anilao, which stood at 30,520 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 865 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 947 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +9.5%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Agbatuan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Anilao is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Agbatuan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
