Barangay San Benito Sur

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay San Benito Sur is one of the administrative divisions of Aringay in La Union, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Benito Sur had a population of 3,727. This made it the 2nd largest of 24 barangays in Aringay by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Benito Sur accounted for approximately 7.40% of the total population of Aringay, which stood at 50,380 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,638 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,727 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Benito Sur as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Aringay is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Benito Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of La Union, which contains 576 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Benito Sur ranks 16th by 2020 population.
