Barangay Banban

Barangay Banban is a small barangay in the municipality of Asturias, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Banban had a population of 876. This made it the 19th largest of 27 barangays in Asturias by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banban accounted for approximately 1.58% of the total population of Asturias, which stood at 55,397 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Banban changed from 805 to 876, a shift of +8.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Asturias. Barangay Banban is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Asturias is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banban, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
