Barangay Manguiao

Situated in Asturias, Cebu, Barangay Manguiao is one of 27 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Manguiao had a population of 2,036. This made it the 11th largest of 27 barangays in Asturias by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Manguiao accounted for approximately 3.68% of the total population of Asturias, which stood at 55,397 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,760 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,036 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +15.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Manguiao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Asturias is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Manguiao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Manguiao ranks 526th by 2020 population. The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections.
