Barangay Central (Pob.)

Barangay Central (Pob.) is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Baganga, located in the province of Davao Oriental, in the Davao Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Central (Pob.) had a population of 4,627. This made it the 4th largest of 18 barangays in Baganga by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Central (Pob.) accounted for approximately 7.88% of the total population of Baganga, which stood at 58,714 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,832 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,627 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -4.2%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Central (Pob.) is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Baganga is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Central (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Oriental, which contains 183 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Central (Pob.) ranks 29th by 2020 population. Barangay Central (Pob.) is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
