Barangay San Miguel

Barangay San Miguel forms part of Balangiga, a municipality in Eastern Samar, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Miguel had a population of 2,214. This made it the 1st largest of 13 barangays in Balangiga by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Miguel accounted for approximately 15.44% of the total population of Balangiga, which stood at 14,341 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay San Miguel moving from 2,059 residents to 2,214 residents, an intercensal change of +7.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Miguel as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balangiga is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Miguel, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
