Barangay Nalasin

Barangay Nalasin is a small barangay in the municipality of Balaoan, located in the province of La Union, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Nalasin had a population of 1,479. This made it the 8th largest of 36 barangays in Balaoan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Nalasin accounted for approximately 3.67% of the total population of Balaoan, which stood at 40,339 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Nalasin changed from 1,465 to 1,479, a shift of +1.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Balaoan. Barangay Nalasin is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balaoan is a municipality comprising 36 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nalasin, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of La Union, which contains 576 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Nalasin ranks 199th by 2020 population. La Union is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
