Barangay Oquendo

Situated in Balete, Aklan, Barangay Oquendo is one of 10 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Oquendo had a population of 1,032. This made it the 9th largest of 10 barangays in Balete by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Oquendo accounted for approximately 3.43% of the total population of Balete, which stood at 30,090 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Oquendo changed from 1,234 to 1,032, a shift of -16.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Balete. Barangay Oquendo is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balete is a municipality comprising 10 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Oquendo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
