Barangay San Leon

Barangay San Leon forms part of Balungao, a municipality in Pangasinan, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Leon had a population of 1,732. This made it the 7th largest of 20 barangays in Balungao by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Leon accounted for approximately 5.77% of the total population of Balungao, which stood at 30,004 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,072 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,732 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -16.4%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay San Leon is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balungao is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Leon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
