Barangay Osmeña

Barangay Osmeña is a small barangay in the municipality of Baras, located in the province of Catanduanes, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Osmeña had a population of 559. This made it the 9th largest of 29 barangays in Baras by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Osmeña accounted for approximately 4.15% of the total population of Baras, which stood at 13,484 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Osmeña moving from 515 residents to 559 residents, an intercensal change of +8.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Osmeña as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Baras is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Osmeña, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Catanduanes, which contains 315 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Osmeña ranks 201st by 2020 population.
