Barangay Poblacion Vieja

Barangay Poblacion Vieja is a small barangay in the municipality of Batuan, located in the province of Bohol, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion Vieja had a population of 1,097. This made it the 5th largest of 15 barangays in Batuan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Vieja accounted for approximately 7.92% of the total population of Batuan, which stood at 13,845 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 899 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,097 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +22.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Poblacion Vieja is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Batuan is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Vieja, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
