Situated in Bauko, Mountain Province, Barangay Monamon Sur is one of 22 barangays that make up the municipality within CAR.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Monamon Sur had a population of 3,877. This made it the 1st largest of 22 barangays in Bauko by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Monamon Sur accounted for approximately 12.11% of the total population of Bauko, which stood at 32,021 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Monamon Sur changed from 3,479 to 3,877, a shift of +11.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Bauko. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Monamon Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
