Barangay Malakaban

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Malakaban is one of the administrative divisions of Binangonan in Rizal, CALABARZON, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malakaban had a population of 1,149. This made it the 36th largest of 40 barangays in Binangonan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malakaban accounted for approximately 0.37% of the total population of Binangonan, which stood at 313,631 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Malakaban changed from 1,216 to 1,149, a shift of -5.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Binangonan. Barangay Malakaban is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Binangonan is a municipality comprising 40 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malakaban, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Rizal, which contains 189 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Malakaban ranks 172nd by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
