Barangay Poblacion

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Bingawan in Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 4,602. This made it the 1st largest of 14 barangays in Bingawan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 28.47% of the total population of Bingawan, which stood at 16,164 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 4,516 residents to 4,602 residents, an intercensal change of +1.9%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bingawan is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Barangay Poblacion is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
