Barangay Dancalan

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Dancalan is one of the administrative divisions of Bobon in Northern Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Dancalan had a population of 2,484. This made it the 3rd largest of 18 barangays in Bobon by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Dancalan accounted for approximately 9.57% of the total population of Bobon, which stood at 25,964 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Dancalan moving from 2,245 residents to 2,484 residents, an intercensal change of +10.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Dancalan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bobon is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dancalan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Dancalan ranks 44th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
