Barangay Casiawan

Situated in Cabucgayan, Biliran, Barangay Casiawan is one of 13 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Casiawan had a population of 1,272. This made it the 8th largest of 13 barangays in Cabucgayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Casiawan accounted for approximately 5.90% of the total population of Cabucgayan, which stood at 21,542 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,274 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,272 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.2%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. Barangay Casiawan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cabucgayan is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Casiawan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
