Barangay Efe

Situated in Calubian, Leyte, Barangay Efe is one of 53 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Efe had a population of 465. This made it the 34th largest of 53 barangays in Calubian by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Efe accounted for approximately 1.47% of the total population of Calubian, which stood at 31,646 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Efe moving from 487 residents to 465 residents, an intercensal change of -4.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Efe is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calubian is a municipality comprising 53 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Efe, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Efe ranks 1197th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
